Project Bread – The Walk for Hunger
It simply wouldn’t be The Walk for Hunger without David Leifer. We lovingly refer to David as “the official photographer of The Walk for Hunger” as David has been volunteering his talents to Project Bread for more than 30 years to capture the community, spirit, and vibrancy of Boston’s longest running community fundraiser. He mastered walking backward to capture the mass of people walking down Commonwealth Ave, and knows just how to capture people enjoying themselves while they participate in this vital community event. We look forward to seeing David at The Walk, and his photos every year. They have become a time capsule for the legacy of the event and are instrumental in our ability to market The Walk year after year.

Project Bread – The Walk for Hunger
Giving Back

It’s a simple idea. I have been working as a photographer for many years. Along the way many people have been incredibly helpful and kind to me. Folks who took a chance on the new photographer. Clients who became regulars and became friends. One way I try to give back to the community is to use my visual skills.

I have done Pro Bono work for Project Bread since I moved to the Boston area. The idea is simple. We all need to eat, and food insecurity is a serious, and all too prevalent, issue. Project Bread’s, “Walk for Hunger” was the first fund raising walk in the country. Over more than 50 years, with thousands of participants, enjoying a festive community event, while raising millions of dollars, it’s worked!

I hope that my effort gives thanks to the walkers and sponsors of the event and encourage more people to come out, and raise much needed funds, year after year.
