Happy Campers
Summer Camp is its own unique ecosystem. Away from home and parents, children have an opportunity to explore their own interests and make new friendships that can last a lifetime. There are the challenges of home sickness and the opportunities of tremendous excitement and happiness that happen nowhere else.
I photograph camp assignments with a strong journalistic direction. I don’t create or stage. I look for, and wait for, those moments of joy or shared delight. Sometimes it’s intense concentration and a quiet moment of contemplation. Camp can be so many things. I try to capture them all.
